We strive to provide stress free DOT exams. Your ability to work depends on your DOT certification and we respect that. Our DOT examinations are done by appointment so we won't waste your time.
The DOT exam is basic and simple. You will need to bring the following; glasses and hearing aids if needed, c-pap print out if needed, list of prescription medications with dosages and a full bladder for a simple diabetes screening.
Our DOT examination costs $65 and we offer a $5 discount for those that pay in cash. Please note that health insurance does not cover DOT examinations.

If you’re a commercial driver, school bus driver, delivery driver, or anyone required to maintain a DOT medical card, you need a trusted provider who makes the process fast, simple, and stress-free. At our Mission Valley Chiropractic Office in San Diego, we offer FMCSA-certified DOT physical exams designed to help you stay compliant and on the road with minimal downtime.
Whether this is your first DOT exam or you’re renewing your medical certificate, our clinic provides expert evaluations with convenient scheduling and same-day results.
What Is a DOT Physical Exam?
A DOT exam is a federally regulated medical evaluation required for anyone operating a commercial motor vehicle (CMV). These exams ensure that drivers are physically healthy, safe, and capable of managing the demands of professional driving.
Only a Certified Medical Examiner (CME) listed on the FMCSA National Registry may perform DOT exams—which is why drivers throughout San Diego trust our office for fast, accurate certification.
Who Needs a DOT Exam? You must complete a DOT physical if you:
Drive a vehicle with a GVWR over 10,001 lbs
Transport 16+ passengers (including school bus drivers)
Operate vehicles requiring a CDL
Transport hazardous materials requiring placards
We regularly work with:
School bus drivers
Commercial truck drivers
Delivery and freight drivers
Rideshare/commercial shuttle drivers
City, county, and government employees
What’s Included in Your DOT Physical
Your DOT exam includes a thorough review of your medical history and a full physical assessment based on FMCSA guidelines.
During your visit, we will:
✔ Review your medical history Medications, past surgeries, chronic conditions, and any conditions affecting driving ability.
✔ Perform a vision test Drivers must meet minimum vision standards (corrective lenses allowed). ✔ Conduct a hearing screening Hearing aids are allowed as long as you meet federal requirements.
✔ Check your blood pressure and pulse We help many drivers understand and manage their readings.
✔ Complete a full physical exam Including heart, lungs, neurological function, abdomen, spine, range of motion, and musculoskeletal health.
✔ Perform a urinalysis This is not a drug test. It screens for glucose, protein, and other indicators of metabolic or kidney issues.
After your exam, you will receive your Medical Examiner’s Certificate (DOT card) on the same day.
